Trinity Lutheran Church in Wheatland WY is a Christian Church gathering for worship each week, and proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Platte County

Wheatland, Wyoming Worship

Each Week we gather for worship using the ancient worship forms of the church.

Our Sunday Morning Services use Lutheran Service Book, Divine Service Setting 3.

Your first time at a church with liturgical worship might seem a bit overwhelming.

The Liturgy is an ancient conversation between the pastor and congregation about the grace and mercy of God.
Some sections are Responsive (The pastor speaks, the congregation responds).

Other sections are Canticles. (Songs from the bible or the church’s earliest days sung by all).

The main part of the service is the Readings and Sermon. The congregation hears the Word of God, as it is applied to their lives.

There are four spots where we sing a Hymn (Numbers are listed on the hymn board):

  • The Beginning

  • Right before the Sermon. (After the creed)

  • During Communion Distribution.

  • At the end of the service.

The Liturgy is found on pp 184-202 in the hymnal. We start at the beginning, and work through to the end.

A lot of first time visitors find it easier to sit and listen to the conversation (Liturgy), and join in only on the Hymns. (Or just listen to them as well).

If you’re more comfortable sitting and listening for the first couple of weeks, feel free. (Standing is optional. Stay seated if you prefer.)

We think you’ll find the Bible Readings and Sermon beneficial on their own. And when you’re comfortable you can join in on the Liturgy sections as well. People usually get the hang of it within the first month, but there’s no rush. Move at your own speed.

We also offer a pamphlet that explains in more detail the various parts of the Divine Service.
